The head of the press center of the security and defense forces of the operational command "South" of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Natalya Gumenyuk, told CNN that the Ukrainian side did not set a flag on Zmeiny Island, but simply dropped it from a helicopter to the ground, and then flew away.
“The flag was brought to the island by helicopter.
It will wait until the troops arrive, ”Gumenyuk said.
Commenting on her words that the Ukrainian flag was installed on Zmeiny, Gumenyuk called her earlier phrase "metaphorical."
She also clarified that no one landed on the island.
Earlier, Gumenyuk announced the installation of the Ukrainian flag on the island of Serpents.
