According to the prosecutor of the department of the General Prosecutor's Office of Uzbekistan, Abror Mamatov, 18 people died in Nukus from serious injuries received during the riots.

“On July 1-2, 243 people received various injuries and went to hospitals, 149 of them received first aid and were released home,” said Davron Dzhumaniyazov, spokesman for the National Guard of Uzbekistan.

According to him, at the moment there are 94 people in hospitals, there are seriously injured, among them are law enforcement officers.

Earlier, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, at a meeting with deputies of the Supreme Council and activists of Karakalpakstan, called on the people of the country to unity.
