After the abolition of the advertising ban for abortions, the Federal Family Minister Lisa Paus (Greens) is convinced that further steps are necessary.

She told the Berlin "Tagesspiegel" on Monday: "We mustn't stop there." The various medical methods of abortions should be part of medical training, for example.

She is in discussion with Federal Minister of Health Karl Lauterbach (SPD).

Abortions should be regulated “outside the penal code”, Paus said.

She added: "In the coalition, we have agreed that we will set up a commission of experts that will address the overall situation of reproductive rights in Germany and develop proposals for reform and recommendations." It is important that the commission's meetings are open-ended.

"In addition to the question of paragraph 218, she will also advise others," Paus continued.

You personally think that abortions do not belong in the penal code.

However, she does not want to anticipate the Commission.

The Bundestag recently deleted paragraph 219a with the votes of the traffic light coalition.

He previously banned the advertising of abortions for economic reasons and in a "grossly offensive way".

In practice, however, it resulted in doctors being prosecuted and convicted for posting information on their website about the abortions they perform and the methods they use.
