A 63-year-old man is suspected of having embezzled nearly 50,000 euros in a few months to the detriment of his 93-year-old uncle.

He was placed in police custody on June 29 at the police station in Orléans (Loiret) for “breach of trust over a vulnerable person”, we learned from La République du Center.

The alert given by the bank

It was the bank of the nonagenarian who alerted the authorities last January, after questionable transactions attributed to his client.

The investigators finally went back to the nephew who had a power of attorney on the victim's account.

They suspect him of having made withdrawals and paid for several purchases with his uncle's checkbook between October 2021 and February 2022.

This sexagenarian was brought before the Orleans prosecutor's office last Thursday, at the end of his police custody.
