A couple from Longueil-Sainte-Marie (Oise) was arrested and placed in police custody on Tuesday.

He is suspected of defrauding a vulnerable pensioner.

These actions had been reported by a social worker.

According to her, the forties had taken control of the finances of the old lady in 2016, reports

Le Parisien

.

Their house would have been partly financed by the pensioner's money.

The suspects, beneficiaries of the RSA, would also have used his checks and his bank card for their daily expenses and the studies of their children.

The amount embezzled was estimated at 93,000 euros and the value of the house at 238,000 euros.

Views on inheritance

After the death of the old lady without close family at the age of 89 last March, the couple would have tried to appropriate part of her inheritance.

The interested parties deny any abuse of weakness, and claim that the octogenarian was aware of the money movements.

A court hearing is expected to take place soon.
