As recalled at the Foreign Ministry, Faria previously served as the Ambassador of Venezuela to Moscow.

“Ministers will discuss the situation in Venezuela and around it.

The Russian side intends to continue to provide comprehensive support to the Government and people of Venezuela in protecting national sovereignty and the right to independent choice of development paths, including through its participation in accompanying the national dialogue of all political forces in the country,” the agency said.

The statement also notes that in 2021, trade between Russia and Venezuela increased by almost 50%, to $149.7 million, and this trend continued to strengthen in the first half of 2022.

The Foreign Ministry noted earlier that Russia and the countries of Latin America continue to develop and strengthen cooperation in modern conditions.

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro called on the states that imposed anti-Russian sanctions to lift them due to the fact that this significantly affects developing countries.
