Among them, there were 4,666 new cases in New Taipei City, 4,448 new cases in Taichung City, and 3,886 new cases in Kaohsiung City.
It was also announced on the same day that 2 new cases of multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C) were added.
One of the cases is a 5-year-old boy who has been discharged from the hospital after treatment; the other is a 7-year-old girl whose condition has also improved after treatment and is currently being hospitalized for observation.
Up to now, there have been 80 severe cases of children under the age of 12 in Taiwan, of which 20 have died.
The "command center" said that the current epidemic situation basically rebounded slightly according to the number of confirmed cases on Tuesday and Wednesday of the week, and the number of cases will gradually decrease after that. The number of new confirmed cases every week has dropped by about 80,000 cases compared with the previous week.
