Bankruptcy was close for ALV in Vimmerby and the battle with the police over coronary restrictions has dominated the headlines in recent years.

It affected the entire Vimmerby municipality, because when the theme park was closed, Vimmerby disappeared almost completely from the tourist map.

Germans and Danes

But the longing for Emil, and especially Pippi, has proven to be stronger than the unfortunate circumstances.

Lena Möller, marketing and sales manager at Astrid Lindgren's world, is happy that laughing families with children are now back with a message.

- From the midsummer weekend until week 32, our accommodation is fully booked, Lena Möller describes the situation right now.

Pippi in particular is still very popular abroad as well.

According to Lena Möller, the flow of visitors from Germany and Denmark in particular has started earlier than other years.

Pippi is rapidly gaining popularity abroad as well.

According to ALV, there is a strong flow of visitors from Germany and Denmark.

Elisabeth Wolmeryd, the co-owner of Vimmerby camping, also sees that German tourists are back in their bookings.

- 2019 we had a record year but we will beat the numbers during the summer.

Lacks staff

But of course it is not completely problem-free.

Now it is instead the lack of knowledgeable kitchen and serving staff that haunts.

But Elisabeth Wolmeryd, after some difficult years, does not intend to let Elisabeth Wolmeryd be discouraged.

- We are really happy and look forward to a great summer.
