7 laboratories to monitor the quality of drinking water in Sharjah

Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority has approved 7 laboratories to monitor and maintain water quality from the beginning of desalination to its arrival to subscribers through a network of more than 3,500 km that includes a water quality laboratory in the Helwan area and 6 technical laboratories in the stations.

The authority has provided laboratories with the latest equipment and qualified human cadres to monitor water testing and ensure its quality and freshness in all regions of the Emirate of Sharjah around the clock.

Director of the Water and Desalination Plants Department, Eng. Essam Al-Mulla, stated that the authority is continuing to develop the performance of laboratories and raise their efficiency in an effort to provide all requirements and conditions of the quality management system and update the laboratory information management system, which contributes to activating work follow-up mechanisms, saving data on the results of analyzes and sending information to all competent authorities. Al Mulla confirmed to "Emirates Today" that the authority keeps pace with the civilized development and urban expansion of the Emirate of Sharjah on an ongoing basis, so the number of sampling sites in the Sharjah city network was increased, bringing the total number of sites to 70 sites, with the aim of continuously monitoring the water quality in the network.

The Water Quality Department of the Water and Desalination Plants Department of the Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority intensified its efforts during the first quarter of this year to examine water samples in various regions and stations around the clock to ensure their quality and compliance with the specifications and standards of the World Health Organization, as 2419 samples were examined in the Water Quality Laboratory, In addition to examining 2781 samples that were examined in the laboratories of water and desalination plants during the first three months of this year, in the interest of the authority to provide drinking water to subscribers of high quality.

He noted that the authority harnesses its technical and operational capabilities to always provide subscribers with high quality drinking water and according to the standards of the World Health Organization, and the authority is always keen to keep pace with scientific progress in water testing, to obtain high quality water.

He pointed out that the authority has provided a number of channels to receive any observations about water quality for the laboratory, which are: direct contact with the water quality department, and communication with the authority's call center, appealing to the public, companies and concerned parties to communicate with the water quality department in the management of water and desalination plants in the event of any Any observations related to water quality, to send specialized technicians to take the required samples and examine them and take all necessary measures.
