“New radiation sources for medical, environmental and special tasks are being developed at the Laboratory of Quantum Optical Technologies of the Faculty of Physics, Novosibirsk State University, which theoretically can be associated with state secrets regarding the achievements of science and technology that are of great economic importance for the country,” the press service of the university told TASS .
Dmitry Kolker, head of the laboratory of quantum optical technologies at Novosibirsk State University (NSU), was arrested in Novosibirsk on suspicion of treason until August 29, 2022.
According to relatives of the detainee, he is accused of collaborating with Chinese intelligence services while he was lecturing at an international conference in China.
Kolker was reportedly taken to the Lefortovo pre-trial detention center.
