When the species re-entered the Östergötland scene, the county administrative board, together with landowners, began maintenance efforts to benefit the species.

One measure they have taken is to excavate bare sand so that the bees can build nests.

Another important measure has been to plant the betel plant.

A plant that is important for many pollinators but especially for the large upholstery work.

The efforts have yielded results

The efforts made by the County Administrative Board together with landowners have yielded positive results.

Since the rediscovery of the bee, the number of known places where the species is located has increased from 8 to 25 and the population has increased from 530 to 1560 females during the period 2016 - 2020.

Let the lawn become a meadow

If the positive development is to continue, it is important that the Östergötland landscape gets more flowers.

If you have a garden, you can also pull your straw to the stack.

- At home in your garden, you can think about not tending your lawn very ethically.

You can save some parts and make sure they become more of a meadow.

Also make sure to have a lot of flowers in the flower beds that insects like, says the County Administrative Board's biologist Tommy Karlsson.
