A woman in her fifties was taken into police custody on Wednesday as part of the investigation into the death of a man near the town of Ille-sur-Têt (Pyrénées- Orientales), said the Perpignan prosecution on Thursday.

The victim's body had been cut up and placed in bags.

It was a 57-year-old man, who left for a bike ride from his home in Ille-sur-Têt to go to Thuir, about fifteen kilometers away.

His body was discovered on June 1 by walkers in a steep area, not far from the Orgues tourist site.

A murder investigation has been opened.
