As noted, the authorities of the Faroe Islands allowed the Russian side to annually catch 75,000 tons of blue whiting in their common special zone with Britain.

According to the head of the Scottish Association of Pelagic Fishers Ian Gatt, this will allow Russian vessels to freely catch blue whiting not only off the Faroe Islands, but also in the waters of Great Britain.

“We call on the British government to put pressure on the Faroe Islands to take action,” he said.

Earlier it was reported that the State Duma of Russia adopted in the third reading a bill providing for the issuance of electronic permits for fishing and harvesting aquatic biological resources.

Also, the head of the Federal Agency for Fisheries, Ilya Shestakov, commented on the situation in the fishing industry.
