At the age of 25, Lu Juncheng aspired to become a policeman since he was a child. Now he has joined the Hong Kong Police Force for 5 years.

Recently, he said in an exclusive interview with a reporter from China News Agency: "In the past 25 years, I have grown from a child to a police officer and witnessed the prosperity and development of Hong Kong after its return to the motherland. I will continue to love the country and Hong Kong and serve Hong Kong as always."

Lu Juncheng is a police officer of the West Kowloon Charge of the Hong Kong Police Force. He was born in the year of Hong Kong's return to the motherland and is a veritable "return baby".

Lu Juncheng recalled that in many police and bandit films he watched as a child, the police were always professional and mighty.

When he was young, there was a family quarrel, and the police arrived at the scene in time to deal with it.

He said: "Their professional attitude and mediation skills quickly eased my parents' excitement at the time and prevented their relationship from deteriorating." This experience planted the seeds of a "police dream" in his heart. "So being a police officer has always been my dream."

In 2017, Lu Juncheng took the police exam. On the day of graduation, he invited his family to visit the graduation ceremony and shared his joy with them.

"Being a police officer must be honest, and what you do must be worthy of yourself, family and friends." This sentence was said by the teacher that day, and he still keeps it firmly in his heart.

After graduation, Lu Juncheng has been stationed in the Cheung Sha Wan Patrol Team for 3 years. In April 2021, he was transferred to the West Kowloon Police Tactical Unit. In April this year, he was transferred to the West Kowloon Stormtrooper to assist in handling emergencies in the area.

From the police to the present, he has participated in many operations, including dealing with the "fake refugee" problem and combating "triads".

"The work of the police is not as majestic and easy as imagined. In addition to eloquence, it also requires a very clear mind. Handling different incidents is a test of the police's ability to respond on the spot, but as my working hours accumulate, I gradually become handy "Lu Juncheng said.

Because of his work relationship, Lu Juncheng has to deal with some cases involving suicide.

"Families of people involved in suicide cases are very excited and can't accept the facts. When we handle these cases, in addition to investigating the truth of the case, we often need to appease the emotions of the family members, which tests the police's ability to work." He said.

Lu Juncheng said: "Many people think that the police is just an ordinary job, but I think it is very meaningful. Citizens are no big deal. When they help the citizens, they take the initiative to say 'thank you' to us. I feel that Great sense of accomplishment."

Lu Juncheng liked to listen to the history teacher's introduction to Hong Kong's return in 1997 since he was a child, and he also looked at the pictures of that year.

"I was very moved when I saw the pictures at that time, and I was also witnessing the development of Hong Kong after the handover."

In the interview, he also mentioned his impression of the mainland: "I used to go back to Shenzhen from time to time to visit relatives. What impressed me most about Shenzhen was that it has done a good job in environmental greening. For example, most of the taxis in Shenzhen are electric vehicles."

"I believe that after the epidemic, with the support of the state and the joint efforts of Hong Kong citizens, Hong Kong's economy will develop more vigorously, and everyone can live and work in peace and contentment. I am very confident in the future development of Hong Kong," he said.
