The staffing situation at Skellefteå Hospital has long looked extremely meager this summer and the number of care places has been significantly reduced.

The situation is now beginning to reach acutely low levels in the number of care places, mainly during weeks 30 and 31.

In the hope of attracting existing staff to work during the critical weeks, the region is now increasing the compensation for the nurses who are prepared to go in and work these weeks.

If there are not enough suckers, it may be necessary to relocate in the holiday planning, the region announces.

- The next alternative is to relocate holidays, but this is not a situation we want to end up in, says Brita Winsa, director of health and medical care.

The sugary offer of increased compensation is aimed at nurses at the surgical center, the orthopedic clinic and the medical and geriatric clinic.

Next week, the region hopes to know more about whether they succeed in resolving the critical weeks or not.
