In the negotiations on the nuclear agreement between Iran and the United States, European mediator Enrique Mora stressed the need to focus during the Doha talks on resolving issues that hinder reaching an agreement in Vienna.

On Tuesday, in the Qatari capital, indirect talks between the United States and Iran, brokered by Europe, were launched, aimed at resolving the outstanding issues between the two sides that prevent reaching an understanding on reviving the 2015 agreement on the Iranian nuclear program.

The Qatari Foreign Ministry said in a statement that it hoped that the Doha talks would culminate in positive results, and expressed its readiness to provide an atmosphere that would help the dialogue to succeed.

The spokesman for this ministry, Majid Al-Ansari, confirmed - in an interview with Al-Jazeera - that the Qatari role is to host the indirect talks between the United States and Iran, stressing that this is evidence of the parties' confidence in Doha and the efforts they have made.

Al-Ansari added that the focus now in this supplementary round is on restoring confidence between the parties as the biggest challenge.

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian had affirmed his country's seriousness in reaching a good and lasting agreement, during the talks hosted by Doha.

However, Abdullahian stressed at the same time that Iran will not retreat from what it considers red lines.

He added that the Biden administration had informed Tehran of its serious will to reach an agreement, but he indicated that the US administration continues to pursue a policy of maximum pressure at the same time.

The Iranian minister said that his country decided to conduct indirect negotiations with the Americans in Qatar at this stage of the negotiations, and that it would see if Washington's intentions and will to reach an agreement were real.
