“Today, we are returning home 144 fighters of the Donetsk People's Republic and the Russian Federation who were captured by the enemy.

We handed over to Kyiv the same number of prisoners from the armed formations of Ukraine, most of whom were wounded.

Several of them are ordinary nationalist battalions, their condition is deplorable: severe injuries, with amputation of limbs and other complications, ”Pushilin wrote in Telegram.

The main task of the DPR authorities is to rescue the fighters who took part in the liberation special operation, the head of the republic emphasized.

“The enemy turned out to have very valuable servicemen.

Among the liberated there are mobilized people who were taken prisoner under various circumstances.

Most of them are injured, and they need urgent qualified medical assistance.

I wish them a speedy recovery,” Pushilin said.

Earlier, the Commissioner for Human Rights in Russia said that the ICRC treats Russian and Ukrainian prisoners of war differently.

According to her, the ombudsman's office is working closely with the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Emergency Situations on the issues of citizens' appeals related to the special operation in Ukraine, and with refugees who are on Russian territory.
