This is a figure that has something to challenge and it is surely for one of these reasons that the prefect of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region decided to communicate at the start of the week.

Last Thursday during an operation of roadside checks in the South-West, one truck driver out of five was checked for violation.

In total, 419 fines were drawn up in the space of a day by the 400 officers mobilized at the 47 checkpoints scattered over all the major axes of the region.

In detail, this gives 68% of offenses under the Highway Code (prohibited overtaking, speeding, use of the telephone, traffic ban, expired technical inspection, etc.) and 27% of transport regulations (lack of license , absence of control booklet or consignment note, non-compliant transport of hazardous materials).

Around twenty breaches of European social regulations and labor regulations (exceeding driving time, non-respect of rest periods, absence of a driver card, in particular illegal work).

Finally, these checks made it possible to identify at least 15 offences, mainly road offences, and to find two people registered in the file of wanted persons as well as a foreigner in an irregular situation.

"Other control operations will be carried out during the summer by the police and state services on the roads of New Aquitaine", specifies the prefect.
