NHK's questionnaire targeting candidates for the Upper House election highlighted the differences in the way each party thinks about nuclear power generation.



In order to respond to the climate change problem, it is necessary to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, but due to the situation in Ukraine, electricity prices are at record high levels. Policy is also one of the issues.

In a questionnaire conducted by NHK to candidates for the Upper House election, when asked what they think should be their dependence on nuclear power in the future,


▽ "should be increased" was 21%,


▽ "now" .

"It's okay" was 15%,


▽ "should be lowered" was 28%, and


▽ "should be zero" was 26%.

By political party, the Democratic Party for the People and the NHK Party had the highest number of "should be increased".



The Liberal Democratic Party has different opinions on "this level is fine" and "should be enhanced".



On the other hand, the Komeito and Nippon Ishin no Kai had the highest number of "should be lowered".



In addition, about half of the Constitutional Democratic Party "should be zero", and the Reiwa Shinsengumi exceeded 90%.



The Communist Party and the Social Democratic Party all replied that they should be "zero."

When asked what they think the ratio of renewable energy to the power source composition should be in the future,


▽ "All power sources should be covered by renewable energy" was 17%,


▽ "Main power source" "Should" was 38%,


▽ "It's okay with the current level" was 17%, and


▽ "Should be reduced" was 11%.

By political party, the Communist Party, Reiwa Shinsengumi, and Social Democratic Party most often said that "all power sources should be supplied by renewable energy," accounting for 80% to 90%.



In addition, the Liberal Democratic Party, the Constitutional Democratic Party, the Komeito Party, and the Democratic Party for the People had the highest number of "should be the main power source."



The NHK party has different answers, "It's okay with the current level" and "It should be the main power source."



On the other hand, 57% of the respondents of the Nippon Ishin no Kai did not answer.
