China News Service, June 29 (Reporter Meng Xiangjun and Peng Dawei) From Sanya, Xiamen to Beijing, another "China moment" of BRICS cooperation has attracted attention.

From June 22 to 24, for three consecutive days, President Xi Jinping presided over the 14th BRICS Leaders' Meeting and the High-level Dialogue on Global Development by video, attended the opening ceremony of the BRICS Business Forum and delivered a keynote speech.

Experts and scholars from many countries have conducted in-depth analysis and spoke highly of the many important issues that President Xi has covered in the "BRICS time".

President Xi talks about 'core issues that affect everyone'

Bo Xiwen, a German expert on China and former director of the European and International Affairs Department of Hesse, Germany, analyzed that President Xi's speech should be viewed as a whole, and one of the core concepts is to build a "community with a shared future for mankind".

In this concept there will be no "exclusive club" of so-called world-ruling economic powers.

Joseph Gregory Mahoney, associate editor of the American Journal of Chinese Political Science and professor at the School of Politics and International Relations at East China Normal University, analyzed that President Xi's call for building a "community with a shared future for mankind" is a basic principle expressed by him , is also the direction of China's foreign policy.

Mahoney noted that President Xi spoke about "the core issues that affect us all", such as the need to make the world safer and maintain peace; the need to improve global governance and reform of international organizations; tackling climate change and sustainable development the need for continued efforts to fight the epidemic and move towards recovery, etc.

The concept of "BRICS+" is to add "high-quality partners"

On June 23, Xi Jinping pointed out in his speech at the 14th BRICS Leaders' Meeting that the BRICS countries should join hands to build a more comprehensive, close, pragmatic and inclusive high-quality partnership.

Regarding the concept of "high-quality partnership", Bo Xiwen said that he understands it as a very close and mutual trust relationship, and relevant countries should also cooperate closely in technological innovation to "master the future".

Mahoney explained that China opposes hegemonism and unilateralism and seeks a win-win solution on the basis of mutual respect.

And this is a necessary prerequisite for creating "truly high-quality partnerships" to deal with crises and create solutions for more development.

Dr. Hu Yishan, chief consultant of the Malaysian Pacific Center and senior researcher of the Singapore Institute of International Affairs, pointed out that the concept of "BRICS+" is to "add" some relatively large trading countries and economies in Southeast Asia, including Malaysia, such as Indonesia and Thailand. and other high-quality partners.

"BRICS" cooperation provides a vivid example to the world

Bo Xiwen pointed out that the message conveyed by President Xi included that the BRICS countries should support each other on issues involving core interests, practice "true multilateralism", maintain justice, fairness and unity, and reject hegemony, bullying and division.

Mahoney emphasized that the success of the BRICS cooperation mechanism along the way is the realization of diplomatic equality, mutual benefit and non-interference among member states.

This achievement provides a vivid example to the world that many countries are looking forward to the much-needed reform of international organizations in order to practice "true multilateralism".

He noted that President Xi reiterated these views in his speech.

Xi Jinping pointed out that the BRICS countries are not closed clubs, nor are they an exclusive "small circle", but a big family that helps each other and good partners for win-win cooperation.

Mahoney pointed out that in addition to the core five member states, other countries have joined the "BRICS+" cooperation model.

The BRICS countries will deal with access regulations for new members such as Argentina to further enhance the group's enormous potential.

This is a good signal for the world.

He further pointed out that given that the reform of some multilateral organizations in the world has stagnated and international fairness has been hindered, the world may see the emergence of an important new international organization.

The establishment of this organization is aimed at achieving greater international fairness.

'Boomerang' style sanctions are 'toxic'

"Sanctions are a 'boomerang' and a 'double-edged sword'. They politicize, instrumentalize, and weaponize the world economy, and use the dominance of the international financial and monetary system to impose arbitrary sanctions, which will ultimately harm others and bring harm to the people of the world."22 In the evening, Xi Jinping attended the opening ceremony of the BRICS Business Forum by video, and pointed out this problem in his keynote speech.

In Bo Xiwen's eyes, the wanton sanctions pointed out by President Xi are a "bad habit" applicable to American politics.

He sees U.S. politics as "toxic" because it aims to segregate and bully other countries through sanctions, as long as those countries are considered competitors to the U.S. on its own path to world domination.

Mahoney interprets it in three levels.

He pointed out that, first of all, the use of the international monetary and financial system as a means of sanctions will push countries to seek to establish an alternative to the US-led system in order to protect their economies from sanctions.

These efforts effectively weaken the hegemony that the United States and its allies hope to maintain.

Second, while sanctions and dollar hegemony have wreaked havoc on developing and emerging markets through lingering effects, they have also led to significant damage to the U.S. economy and developed nations.

Third, research shows that economic sanctions rarely achieve their goals and only backfire.

This time, the sanctions (on Russia by the West) seem to confirm this trend more than any other.

German experts call for listening to "China's voice"

Regarding President Xi's "Voice of the BRICS", Volk Chapke, honorary chairman of the Berlin-Brandenburg Prussian Association in Germany, called on the world to listen together.

He said he firmly believes that everyone needs to listen to President Xi's "wonderful and important speech" on peace and equality at the BRICS meeting.

He pointed out that people need to recognize the mistakes of the western world and learn to accept the existence of BRICS as an international cooperation organization.

He believes that President Xi's initiative can create opportunities for countries to work together for a more peaceful, better and more effective poverty eradication world.
