“I can’t discuss the decision to expel Russian diplomats from Bulgaria, because I don’t have the necessary information,” TASS quoted Radev as saying.

He expressed the hope that the dismissed head of the government, Kiril Petkov, made such a decision “on the basis of solid and reliable information” and thought it over well in terms of consequences.

Earlier in Sofia it was announced that Bulgaria was expelling 70 Russian diplomats and embassy technical staff.

Prior to this, the Bulgarian Parliament announced a vote of no confidence in the coalition government headed by Prime Minister Kiril Petkov.

Petkov, after the parliament passed a vote of no confidence in the government headed by him, said that three Bulgarian politicians and the Russian ambassador in Sofia were allegedly involved in this.

As Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova later noted with irony, “the list lacks Batman and Catwoman.”
