At least 53 dead in Texas illegal immigrant deaths
On June 29, local time, according to Fox News, at least 53 people have been killed in the death of illegal immigrants in San Antonio, Texas.
In addition, according to a law enforcement official who did not want to be named, the driver of the truck involved had to be taken to a hospital when he was arrested with a large amount of methamphetamine. He is expected to appear in federal court on the 29th on smuggling charges.
San Antonio's acting special agent for homeland security investigations said the human-trafficking incident was "the worst we've seen in America" and that groups were becoming increasingly violent and treating immigrants "as a commodity."
It is reported that the dead migrants were even sprinkled with a pungent odorant to mask their smell.
