A traffic accident had unexpected consequences on Monday evening in the town of Beaumont-sur-Oise (Val-d'Oise).

A biker hit an electrical transformer, which caught fire before exploding, reports La Gazette du Val-d'Oise.

The firefighters had to intervene both to rescue the injured pilot and to extinguish the fire on the transformer.

In absolute urgency

The 24-year-old man was rushed to a hospital.

But according to our colleagues, the biker was conscious during his transfer by the emergency services.

The deterioration of the transformer also led to a power outage for 3,000 subscribers in Beaumont-sur-Oise and in the surrounding municipalities.

The psychiatric hospital Les Oliviers, located near the scene of the accident, was also impacted.

Electricity was restored there after two hours, but a house will remain without power for a few more days, specifies
