Today, Tuesday, the Qatari capital, Doha, witnesses the launch of a round of indirect negotiations between Washington and Tehran to reach an agreement on the nuclear file. We recall here the most prominent points of contention between the two countries on the file:

Iran demands the lifting of all sanctions imposed after Washington withdrew from the nuclear agreement, and the various sanctions imposed within the US policy of maximum pressure.

On the other hand, Washington says that Tehran demands what is outside the agreement, and that Iran must respond to concerns that go beyond the nuclear agreement.

Iran also demands political, legal and commercial guarantees from the American and European sides so that withdrawal from the agreement is not repeated.

On the other hand, America has previously stated that it cannot provide Iran with guarantees that the next US administration will not withdraw from the nuclear agreement.

Iran demands that the Revolutionary Guards be removed from the list of American terrorist organizations.

Removing the Iranian Revolutionary Guard from the list of terrorist organizations requires broader negotiations that include other files as well, and this matter is rejected by Iran.

The files related to Iran’s implementation of its commitments within the framework of the comprehensive guarantees agreement are among the important points of contention on the American side.

Iran says that it is committed to the decisions and will retract steps to reduce its nuclear commitments if the nuclear agreement is activated and all parties return to it.
