• Expired, the Roazhon Park occupancy agreement was validated by the Rennes city council on Monday evening.

  • Scheduled to last twenty years, the contract requires Stade Rennais to pay a fixed amount and a variable part of its turnover to the municipality.

  • The amount should be close to the annual 880,000 euros that the community received in the past.

This season, it welcomed just over 610,000 people.

Most fans got their money's worth when they watched their team correct their Ligue 1 opponents in a flurry of goals.

While the price of places at Roazhon Park is regularly debated in the ranks of the Stade Rennais public, the city has just revealed the amount of the fee paid by the club to occupy the stadium.

Owner of the equipment, the Rennes municipality had signed an occupancy agreement with the club when it was taken over by the Pinault family in 1998.

Tacitly renewed once, the contract, which also included the use of La Piverdière, expired in June.

The opportunity to make it "cleaner" after the remarks made by the regional chamber of accounts which had advised the two parties "to better share responsibilities".

"The annual rent was estimated at 880,000 euros excluding taxes," said municipal councilor for sport Frédéric Bourcier.

A substantial amount but that must be related to the dimensions of the site.

Able to accommodate nearly 30,000 people, the stadium offers a garden of around 7,000 m² whose lawn is finally successful.

The more the club wins, the more the city receives

For two years, the two parties have been discussing to try to find common ground around the lease.

Signed for 20 years, it ultimately amounts to 341,000 euros per year for the fixed part to which must be added a percentage of turnover “excluding payroll and TV rights”, specifies the elected socialist.

The municipality will receive a variable amount each year linked to the club's financial results, i.e. between 3 and 4% of the estimated turnover of around 17 to 20 million euros (70 million if we add the payroll and TV rights). ).

"When the years of Stade Rennais are good, they will also be good for the city", specifies the elected official.

According to estimates made by the city's financial services, the amount of the fee will be "similar" to what was already paid in the past.

If the figure is 17 million, 850,000 euros will be donated to the municipality.

If it climbs to 20 million, the fee should flirt with a million euros.

The club has also signed a fifty-year emphyteutic lease for the occupation of the Piverdière site, which it wishes to expand.

A fee of 142,000 euros will be claimed from Stade Rennais for its training center.

Owned by François Pinault, the SRFC will pay 35 to 40 million euros for its Piv'2 project where it will extend to just over three hectares at Prévalaye.

If the project is generally consensus within the management committee, several people demonstrated during a "banquet" under the windows of the municipal council on Monday to recall their opposition to this extension.
