The surge in the number of coronavirus cases in France is worrying the health authorities, who are calling on the French to be extra vigilant and recommending wearing a mask.

A recommendation that divides the French.

If some have already put on the mask, others refuse this leap back at the start of the summer.

At the end of the legislative elections, politics shares the headlines with the health crisis.

After the lull, France sees the number of cases explode again with 70,000 cases detected in the last 24 hours.

The return of the coronavirus raises the question of wearing a mask in public transport.

While not compulsory, it is recommended by the Ministry of Health.

"You see, I have my mask on and I even keep it on for a bit in the street because I find that you have to be careful when you hear all the information and you say it's starting again", confides at the microphone of Europe 1 a woman at the exit of bus 30. "I don't feel like getting sick at all."

Another is aware that wearing a mask is unpleasant in the heat, but resigns himself: “I am ready to put it back on transport, in closed places, even if it is not going to be very pleasant in summer.

“I want to believe that vaccines protect us”

If the French wore the mask for several months, some quickly "disused": "It's something I don't want to get used to again," says a user.

"I want to believe that vaccines protect us enough. If we get vaccinated, it is precisely so that we no longer need to put on the mask in transport."

Another still hesitates.

"We take the metro every morning and every evening, so it bothers me a lot. If it's compulsory, I would do it, and again. There are very few checks, so there's little chance."
