The signals in Finland before the meeting have been that there is "something positive going on", says SVT's Finland correspondent Liselott Lindström.

Before Tuesday's meeting in Madrid, Finnish President Sauli Niinistö announced that he was looking forward to hearing what concrete demands Turkey is actually making on Finland.

So far, they have been unclear, according to Liselott Lindström.

- There, the demands on Sweden may have been stricter and more concrete.

The fact that Turkey has now decided to release Finland is therefore described as a great relief.

Great interest in Turkey

According to Thomas Thorén, SVT's Turkey correspondent, there has been great media interest in the meeting in Turkey as well, and above all in Erdogan's decision to stop Sweden and Finland.

- And precisely the motivation that it is about what is seen from Ankara's point of view as a tolerant attitude to the PKK, he says.

In recent days, perhaps between the lines, it has been possible to anticipate a softer attitude in Turkey as well, according to Thomas Thorén.

And today's message was not a matter of course.

- As recently as today, Erdogan said that he wants to see more than empty words from Sweden and Finland.
