According to National Security Adviser to the Head of Lithuania, Kestutis Budrys, the event was held against the backdrop of updates to the EC recommendations on the implementation of restrictions.

According to him, on June 27, the basic principles and basic provisions that Vilnius should follow in order to “clarify some points for the EC” were unanimously agreed upon, Interfax reports.

Earlier, Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis said that the removal of restrictions on transit to the Kaliningrad region is the prerogative of the EC.

Lithuanian Railways previously notified the Kaliningrad Railways of stopping the transit of a number of sanctioned goods from June 18.

Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov said that Russia is determined to resolve the situation with the transport blockade of Kaliningrad by Lithuania.

According to him, Moscow's position is communicated to the state through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
