2019年8月，习近平总书记到甘肃考察。总书记访脱贫、问民生、看黄河、察生态，在听取甘肃省委和省政府工作汇报时指出：“我们正在开展的主题教育，就是要检视我们党到底是不是为人民服务的党。要始终牢记，我们的航船行驶在人民群众的汪洋大海上，水可载舟亦可覆舟，永远不要失去民心！”
习近平总书记以身示范、率先垂范，为开展好“不忘初心、牢记使命”主题教育指明了前进方向，注入了强大动力。广大党员干部静心学习、深入调研、深刻启迪、扎实整改、总结升华，普遍反映达到了理论学习有收获、思想政治受洗礼、干事创业敢担当、为民服务解难题、清正廉洁作表率的目标。
按照中央部署，“不忘初心、牢记使命”主题教育着力抓好8个方面突出问题专项整治，中央15家成员单位在主题教育中对漠视侵害群众利益问题进行集中整治。“两不愁三保障”问题是否解决、食品药品安不安全、环境污染有无改善、交通出行方不方便……一批群众身边的操心事、烦心事、揪心事得到有效解决。
不忘初心、牢记使命，说到底是为什么人、靠什么人的问题。以百姓心为心，与人民同呼吸、共命运、心连心，是党的初心，也是党的恒心。
习近平总书记一言以蔽之：“江山就是人民、人民就是江山，打江山、守江山，守的是人民的心。”
党的十八大以来的历次党内集中学习教育，本质上都是重温初心、感悟初心、践行初心的过程。
党的群众路线教育实践活动中，焦裕禄“绿我涓滴，会它千顷澄碧”的抱负引发共鸣，“为了谁、依靠谁、我是谁”的反省触及灵魂，“想发财别做官”的告诫振聋发聩，“公款姓公、公权为民”的逻辑深入人心……
反“四风”，改作风，树新风，广大党员干部更加清醒地认识到，群众路线是我们党的生命线和根本工作路线，是我们党永葆青春活力和战斗力的重要传家宝。
“三严三实”专题教育中，习近平总书记提出明确要求：“‘三严三实’是我们天天要面对的要求，大家要时时铭记、事事坚持、处处上心，随时准备坚持真理、随时准备修正错误，凡是有利于党和人民事业的，就坚决干、加油干、一刻不停歇地干；凡是不利于党和人民事业的，就坚决改、彻底改、一刻不耽误地改。”
县处级以上领导干部深学、细照、笃行，在思想、作风、党性上进行了又一次集中“补钙”和“加油”。
“两学一做”学习教育中，广大党员、干部对照党章党规严明规矩、树立规范、明确标准，切实把合格的标尺立起来，把做人做事的底线划出来，把党员的先锋形象树起来。
党史学习教育中，广大党员、干部学党史、悟思想、办实事、开新局，从百年党史中启迪智慧、凝聚力量，不断深化对党的性质宗旨的认识，以实际行动把好传统带进新征程，将好作风弘扬在新时代。

一切向前走，都不能忘记走过的路；走得再远、走到再光辉的未来，也不能忘记走过的过去，不能忘记为什么出发。
2014年3月，在河南兰考同基层干部群众座谈时，习近平总书记发人深省地提出：“革命战争年代我们党同敌人作斗争，一刻也离不开老百姓的保护和支持，党执政了是不是能做到一刻也离不开老百姓？”
经历了一次次思想再动员、初心再觉醒、使命再升华，广大党员干部用“我为群众办实事”的实际行动作出了回答——
数以百万计的扶贫干部尽锐出战，坚决打赢脱贫攻坚战，带领群众攻克了一个又一个贫中之贫、坚中之坚。“只要我还干得动，我都永远为村里的老百姓做事”“我是一名共产党员，带领群众拔穷根我义不容辞”……时代强音回响在广袤原野；
数以千万计的党员干部冲锋在前，不计其数的基层党组织化身战斗堡垒，同时间赛跑、与病魔较量，构筑起疫情防控的坚固防线，“人民至上、生命至上，保护人民生命安全和身体健康可以不惜一切代价”，铿锵承诺响彻神州大地；
“厕所革命”、垃圾分类、清洁取暖、提高养老院服务质量、老旧小区改造……各级党组织和广大党员从群众中来，到群众中去，用心用情用力解决群众急难愁盼问题；
全党上下坚守人民立场，践行以人民为中心的发展思想，自觉同人民群众想在一起、干在一起，风雨同舟、同甘共苦，坚持一切为了人民、一切依靠人民，始终把人民放在心中最高位置、把人民对美好生活的向往作为奋斗目标，推动改革发展成果更多更公平惠及全体人民，推动共同富裕取得更为明显的实质性进展。

“一切为民者，则民向往之。”历史从不偏爱哪一个政党，谁把人民放在心上，人民就把谁放在心上——
“我不认识他们，也叫不出他们的名字，但我认识他们胸前的徽章。”
“只要有党员在行动，党旗在飘扬，我们就心中不慌。”
“为什么老百姓衷心拥护党？因为我们党是全心全意为人民服务的。”
一句句发自肺腑的话语，朴实而真诚，道出了人民群众对党的拥戴和信赖。
“大道之行也，天下为公。”
