China News Agency, Macau, June 26. The Macau Novel Coronavirus Infection Response Coordination Center (hereinafter referred to as the "Response Coordination Center") reported on the 26th that as of 12:00 on June 25, the number of positive infections in Macau had increased to 261 cases.

The Macao SAR government has decided to conduct a new round of nationwide nucleic acid testing from the 27th to the 28th.

The Response Coordination Centre said the 261 cases included 158 women and 103 men, aged between eight months and 89 years.

Among them, 66 have symptoms and are classified as confirmed cases; 195 are temporarily asymptomatic and classified as asymptomatic infections.

On the 25th, there were 71 new positive infections in Macau, 57 of which were found in the community, and 14 were found in the management and control.

Ouyang Yu, Director of the Department of Social and Cultural Affairs of the Macao SAR Government, said that the SAR Government has decided to conduct a new round of nationwide nucleic acid testing from the 27th to the 28th.

Ouyang Yu revealed that the team of Academician Zhong Nanshan said on the 26th that the new coronavirus mutated virus BA.5 has a very strong spread and believes that Macau has responded quickly.

However, due to the rapid increase in the scale of infection, it is necessary to further increase testing points, strengthen epidemiological investigations, clean up the virus transmission chain, and put an end to the epidemic as soon as possible.

At present, the virus is constantly spreading in the community. The first two rounds of national nucleic acid testing, testing of key areas and key populations, and antigen testing have played a significant role in the prevention and control of the epidemic in Macao.

Luo Yilong, director of the Health Bureau of the Macao SAR Government, said that the transmission coefficient of BA.5 is four to seven in one transmission, and the virus has spread in the community. We call on residents to stay at home as much as possible, not go out unless necessary, and cooperate with the epidemic prevention and control work to curb the epidemic as soon as possible.
