Among the 14 summit schedules to be held during the NATO summit, the most interesting is the Korea-U.S.-Japan summit on the night of the 29th.

This is the first three-way meeting between President Yoon Seok-yeol, US President Joe Biden, and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, and is the first summit in four years and nine months between Korea, the United States and Japan.

The agenda includes strengthening North Korea's nuclear cooperation, regional security issues and countermeasures, and economic security strategies.

At the NATO summit, led by Europe and the United States, for the first time this year, a new strategic concept aimed at China is being discussed, so the invitations from Korea and Japan are unusual.

A diplomatic expert explained, "Security cooperation between the US and Japan goes beyond strengthening deterrence against North Korea and is partly involved in the US-China competition in East Asia under the pretext of regional security."

The presidential office explained, "This is to expand and deepen the network in terms of comprehensive security, so there is no need to interpret it as a major shift towards anti-China and anti-Russian policies."

President Yoon's wife and Kim Kun-hee will also accompany her on this itinerary.

First Lady Kim plans to attend the spouse's session of the NATO summit, including a dinner hosted by the Spanish king and wife, and accompany President Yoon to the Korean-Korean dinner meeting.
