The office of Prince Charles, the Crown Prince of Britain, confirmed that the donations received by the Prince from Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabr Al Thani, the former Prime Minister of Qatar - and which were revealed by the British newspaper The Sunday Times - were delivered at the time to a charitable foundation in accordance with legal procedures.

"The charitable donations made by Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim were immediately delivered to one of the Prince's charities, which implemented the appropriate administrative procedure and assured us that all correct procedures were followed," Prince Charles' office said in a statement today.

This came after the Sunday Times reported - in a report published on Saturday evening - that Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim provided 3 million euros ($ 3.2 million) to Prince Charles in the period 2011-2015, including one million euros in cash in a suitcase, on one occasion.

The newspaper said that the money went to the charity of Prince Charles and that there was no indication that these payments were not legal.

It also quoted officials of the institution that the financial auditors approved those payments.

However, the newspaper pointed out that these funds raise many questions about the management of the Prince Charity Foundation.
