At least 17 young people found dead in a nightclub in South Africa

A macabre discovery was made on Sunday June 26 in a nightclub in a township in East London, South Africa.

Seventeen bodies were found in this establishment.

"We have information about 17 young people who were found dead in a bar in Scenery Park, East London. We are continuing to investigate the circumstances of these deaths," the provincial police chief told AFP. General Thembinkosi Kinana.

The victims are between the ages of 18 and 20, he added, and according to footage circulating on social media, the corpses are lying on the ground and none have any apparent injuries.

Local television broadcast looped images of the crowd of families and onlookers gathered around this nightclub in East London, a city of one million people located on the Indian Ocean, some 700 km to the south from Johannesburg.
