On June 24, local time, the U.S. House of Representatives voted 234 in favor and 193 against, and voted to pass a gun control bill called the Bipartisan Safe Communities Act. Response to mass shootings.

The bill calls for stronger background checks on gun buyers under the age of 21, funding for "Red Flag Laws," cracking down on illegal gun buyers, and strengthening campus safety and mental health education, among other things.

Supporters of the bill say it would effectively prevent mass shootings in schools, while providing $8 billion in funding for measures such as strengthening school safety and strengthening mental health services for children and families.

The bill will then be submitted to US President Joe Biden.

Biden has said that once the bipartisan gun safety bill passes both houses, he will immediately formally sign it into law.
