On the eve of vacation departures, strike movements are multiplying on the side of airline staff and SNCF railway workers.

These employees are demanding better working conditions and higher wages.

This weekend, the pilots of the Transavia company and the stewards and flight attendants of the Ryanair company are on strike.

The situation is getting worse for the SNCF and the disturbances are increasing in the European sky.

In the air sector, the sector is going through a major labor shortage linked to the layoffs that took place during the health crisis.

Currently, there are 7,000 vacancies in Europe, including 4,000 in Paris airports.

This shortage results in endless queues at the security gates, suitcases that sometimes take several hours to get out of the planes and especially flight delays.

Respect the labor code

In addition, the remaining employees are expressing their dissatisfaction with their working conditions and demanding a salary increase.

Many calls for a strike are underway, like this weekend by pilots from Transavia and stewards and flight attendants from Ryanair.

Ryanair: "Other strike movements" could take place this summer, says this trade unionist

"We have entered into negotiations with Ryanair with the aim of getting them to comply with the labor code and the civil aviation code on various points, including the payment of overtime, rest time, days off and everything a lot of rules that are not respected in France", explains Christelle Austère, president of the National Union of Commercial Flight Crew.

Railway strike scheduled for July 6

Disruptions are also expected on the train side.

The SNCF calls for a strike for the beginning of July.

All railway workers are asked to stop work on Wednesday July 6.

The unions also denounce wages that no longer correspond to the cost of living.

Rising fuel prices: in the transport sector, anger is rising

For Eric Meyer, federal secretary of the Sud-Rail union, the 2014 wage increase is no longer enough: "Railway workers, like all employees, are bearing the brunt of inflation, rising prices, rising energy prices. In front of us, we have companies which make record profits and which do not redistribute to employees. You should know that last year, the SNCF earned 1 billion euros.

And this strike will fall in the middle of the week of vacation departures.

But according to the unions, the choice of this date is a fault of the management which has refused to respond to their requests since February.
