Two people were killed and about 19 others were seriously injured in a shooting Saturday night in the center of the Norwegian capital (Oslo), police said.

The police indicated - in a tweet on Twitter - that the shooting took place near a bar, and said that they had arrested a suspect, while Norwegian media reported the presence of 3 crime scenes.

Al-Jazeera correspondent said that the accused was charged with murder, attempted murder and terrorist act in the shooting operation.

Chief of Police Operations Tori Barstad told the newspaper Evenposten that the shooting took place in the "London Pub" - a popular gay club in the heart of Oslo - and spread to a nearby club and a nearby street, where the suspect was arrested a few minutes after the shooting began.

"Two people have been confirmed dead after the shooting, and there are several serious injuries," the police said.

The Norwegian public network NRK quoted Barstad as saying that "10 people were receiving first aid," adding, "3 people were seriously injured", and said that all evidence pointed to one attacker.

The same network quoted journalist Olaf Roenberg as saying that he saw "a man with a briefcase, pull out a gun, and start shooting."

The police did not provide any information about the age or identity of the suspect who was arrested, and the suspect did not make any statements, and the police searched his apartment and confiscated two weapons used in the attack, the network quoted Barstad as saying.

According to "NRK", there are 3 crime scenes, without it being clear if it is related to 3 different places.

Pictures published by VG, NRK and other media showed a large crowd of emergency services outside the London pub, including police and paramedics.

Helicopters hovered over central Oslo while the sirens of ambulances and police cars were heard across the city.

The motive behind the attack was not immediately clear.
