The Mossos d'Esquadra in collaboration with the Local Police of Montcada i Reixac and the National Police dismantled an illegal waste warehouse in which there were, among other objects, 2,919 used butane cylinders.

The agents are investigating the three people who managed this site, located in Montcada, for their alleged relationship with the misappropriation of cylinders from various Spanish and Portuguese companies.

In this sense, they consider that they committed a crime since the origin of the material is illegal.

The cylinders were stacked without any security measures in trailers and on the ground.

According to Mossos, these containers, despite being empty, keep 10% of the gas inside, therefore, the accused had accumulated and deposited up to 3,500 liters of gas in terrible safety and hygiene conditions.

One of the three investigated already had a previous record of misappropriating butane cylinders to send them to Africa, where they were sold at a very high price.

In this sense, the agents determined that the three investigated had the intention of sending the cylinders to Nigeria by sea in containers, together with electrical appliances, machinery and other objects that were also located in the wasteland.

In this country it is considered a luxury item.

On the other hand, the Mossos administratively denounced one of those investigated for not having the mandatory records for waste management and for carrying out this activity without authorization.

The police returned the requisitioned cylinders to the owner companies.
