China News Agency, Changsha, June 25 (Reporter Sun Zifa Xiang Yipeng) The latest "Research Report on the Development of China's Science and Technology Human Resources (2020)" shows that by the end of 2020, China's science and technology human resources have exceeded 110 million people, reaching 11234.1 10,000 people (regardless of factors such as failure to return to study abroad, "promotion of college degree" and other factors), continue to maintain its position as the world's largest scientific and technological human resources scale.

The 2022 China Science and Technology Think Tank Forum, one of the special forums of the 24th China Association for Science and Technology Annual Conference, was held in Changsha on the 25th. Continue to grow and continue to maintain the world's largest technology human resources advantage.

"China Science and Technology Human Resources Development Research Report (2020)" is the seventh part of this series of reports. It was jointly researched and completed by the Innovation Strategy Research Institute of China Association for Science and Technology and relevant experts and scholars. It is one of the brand achievements of China Association for Science and Technology's high-end science and technology innovation think tank.

The report pointed out that the structure of China's scientific and technological human resources mainly has four characteristics:

First, for a long time, the number of scientific and technological human resources with engineering background has been ranked first in all disciplines, and currently accounts for more than half of the total.

Second, over the years, China's scientific and technological human resources have presented a pyramid-shaped educational structure distribution with the college level as the main, followed by undergraduates and the least postgraduates. The proportion of scientific and technological human resources at undergraduate level and above has been continuously increased, and the educational structure has been continuously optimized.

Third, the characteristics and trends of China's scientific and technological human resources are obvious, with people aged 39 and below accounting for about three-quarters.

Fourth, the rapid growth of female scientific and technological human resources, the proportion of which will continue to increase, and the gender ratio will become more balanced.

In response to the development trend of China's science and technology human resources, the "Research Report on the Development of China's Science and Technology Human Resources (2020)" believes that in the future, China's science and technology human resources will continue to maintain the trend of total growth, the structure will continue to be optimized, and the quality will be further improved.

The report suggests that in the future, scientific and technological human resources should be placed at the height of national strategies, continuously improve the quality of training, improve the incentive mechanism, create a good environment, accelerate the transformation of scientific and technological human resources from large to strong, and cultivate a large-scale, high-quality team for China. A team of scientific and technological talents with excellent, optimized structure and outstanding role will work hard to speed up the construction of the world's important talent center and innovation highland.
