According to the plan of the South Korean government, the permanent mission of South Korea to NATO will be concurrently served by the embassy in Belgium and the permanent mission to the EU, and the ambassador to Belgium and the permanent representative to the EU will also serve as the permanent representative to NATO.

  South Korean Foreign Ministry spokesman Choi Yong-san said the same day that the decision aims to expand information sharing with NATO, consolidate the cooperation network with allied countries and partner countries, and carry out NATO diplomatic activities in line with South Korea's international status.

  According to reports, the Presidential Office of South Korea previously announced that President Yoon Sek-yue will go to Spain to attend the NATO summit at the end of this month, and announced plans to set up a permanent mission to NATO.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of South Korea stated that among the four NATO partner countries in the Asia-Pacific region, South Korea, Japan, Australia and New Zealand, all three countries except South Korea have established delegations in NATO, and the permanent representative to NATO is concurrently served by the ambassador to Belgium.
