From the sea up to Rengård's power station, the Skellefteälven river is classified as suffering from crayfish plague by the County Administrative Board in Västerbotten.

But test fishing in the river shows, among other things, that Båtfors reservoir, which is located within the plague-marked area, seems to have survived.

- It may be the last stock of crayfish in the Skellefteälven river, says Tony Söderlund.

Tributaries to the river also seem to be coping.

- But we'll see if they can do it.

Crayfish move until they reach an obstacle, says municipal ecologist Mattias Varg.

Now the trial fishing continues and the municipality will also put up signs by infected water and other waters where there are live crayfish to prevent them from spreading.
