The Hajj season 1443 AH is scheduled to fall this year from 7 to 12 July 2022, and the pilgrims will flock to the holy sites from different countries of the world after a two-year break due to the exceptional circumstances imposed by the Corona virus pandemic, and the cost of this year’s Hajj has been recorded A rise in most Arab countries, with a few exceptions, due to several factors.

Hajj preparations in various Arab countries came late this year due to waiting for the Hajj arrangements to be decided by the Saudi authorities that take care of Hajj affairs. The Saudi Ministry of Hajj did not disclose the controls and conditions adopted for this Hajj season until last May.

The most prominent of these conditions is to reduce the share of all countries by 45%, and for the age of pilgrims to be less than 65 years old, as well as some health conditions associated with the Corona virus, which were adopted after the outbreak of the pandemic in 2020.

The high cost of Hajj for this season is attributed to several reasons, some of which are related to global conditions and others are related to the high costs and fees in Saudi Arabia. The Higher Hajj Committee in Syria has identified 5 reasons for the high cost:

1- Global inflation in prices, which affects various prices, especially accommodation and food in Saudi Arabia.

2- The increase in the prices of mandatory services (sharing services, raft and transportation services...).

3- Adding new mandatory services (emergency, health insurance and visa fees).

4- An increase in the value-added tax rate in Saudi Arabia from 5% to 15%.

5- The high prices of airline tickets in all companies in the region and the world.

The cost rose in most Arab countries at varying rates, with the highest amounting to 300% in Lebanon and the lowest by 5% in Jordan, while the cost stabilized for Palestinian pilgrims coming from the West Bank.

Here are the details of the cost of Hajj in 19 Arab countries, comparing it to the last Hajj season before the Corona pandemic:
