Froome, 37, won the Tour in 2013, 2015, 2016 and 2017. Third in 2018, he did not start again after, due to his serious fall in June 2019 and the long recovery needed.

"I've worked exceptionally hard this year and I can't wait to give it my all. We have a great group of riders," said Froome, quoted by his training, ahead of his tenth appearance in the event.

The Israeli team will gain experience in the Tour with the Dane Jakob Fuglsang (37), third in the recent Tour of Switzerland, and the Canadian Michael Woods (35).

"The main priority for us is to win a stage," said team principal Kjell Carlström.

“We also want to keep options open and see what can be possible in terms of fighting for the leader's jersey like we did last year when Michael Woods fought for the mountain jersey.

"Starting the Tour de France in my country of origin will be a unique experience for me", welcomed Fuglsang, appointed to the role of leader.

"After my victory at the Mercan'Tour and my third place overall in the Tour de Suisse, I feel ready to take on this Tour".
