“The government of the republic aims to stabilize the situation, find a way to energy sovereignty, as well as help both families and firms to cope with the growing high cost, primarily for heat sources,” RIA Novosti quotes him.

According to the prime minister, measures aimed at reducing dependence on Russian gas and oil include expanding the capacity of the TAL pipeline, building a Polish-Czech gas pipeline, as well as obtaining part of the capacity of an offshore LNG terminal in the Netherlands.

In addition, Fiala emphasized that the process of filling gas storage facilities in the country by the new season is underway.

Earlier, the Commissioner of the Czech government for energy security, Vaclav Bartushka, said that the Czech authorities are ready to "burn anything" to provide the country's residents with heat and electricity if gas supplies stop in winter.

Bartuszka also stated that the transition to renewable energy sources will be difficult, but the future belongs to green technologies.
