Media mogul

Rupert Murdoch and actress and model Jerry Hall

are divorcing, the New York Times reported Wednesday, citing several people close to both.

Murdoch's divorce, his fourth, is unlikely to alter the

ownership structure of the companies

in which he has stakes, which include the parent companies of Fox News and The Wall Street Journal.

The Murdoch family's shares in the companies founded by the tycoon reside in a tightly managed trust.

Still, the split could ripple through his entire business empire, which maintains powerful influence in

the United States and abroad

through its right-leaning news brands, including Fox News Channel in the United States, The Sun in Britain and Sky News in Australia.

Neither representatives for the media mogul nor those for Hall

responded to a Reuters request

for comment on the divorce.

Murdoch (now 90) married Hall, 65, in a low-key ceremony in central London in March 2016. Murdoch took the opportunity to announce on Twitter that he would stop posting on the social network, calling himself

" the luckiest and happiest man in the world

. "

Murdoch was married three other times.

Jerry Hall was previously married to

singer Mick Jagger

, but their marriage was annulled in 1999.
