The Paris police headquarters decided to launch a new call for witnesses on Tuesday, in an attempt to advance the investigation into a fatal fire that occurred on January 10, 2018 in Choisy-le-Roi (Val-de-Marne).

That day, firefighters had fought for nearly 30 hours to put out a huge fire in an underground parking lot.

In total, 120 firefighters and 50 vehicles had been engaged in the disaster and hundreds of residents had to be relocated, recalls BFMTV.

An arson attack

A 28-year-old sergeant died after the fire.

This father, who had notably intervened to evacuate the inhabitants of the damaged buildings, had suffered a heart attack.

He died three days later in hospital.

Several homes had been detected during the fire, described as criminal.

The investigations are now being carried out by the Val-de-Marne departmental judicial police service.
