The Alicante Civil Guard has arrested a 40-year-old truck driver who

allegedly killed another man of the same age after driving at 100

kilometers per hour with the latter hanging from a rear-view mirror for almost three kilometers.

The agents found the

badly injured victim on the road next to the tracks of a braking of the tires

.

After being taken to the hospital, the man lost his life due to his injuries.

As reported by the Civil Guard in a statement, it all started after a

fight with a pedestrian in a rest area for vehicles

.

The trucker allegedly drove for almost three kilometers at more than 100 km/h with the pedestrian hanging from one of the rear-view mirrors of the truck

while he tried to get into the cabin

.

The agents determined during the investigation that what appeared to be a traffic accident turned out to be the

product of an altercation between the two

involved.

The detainee is accused of a crime of reckless homicide and another of omission of the duty of relief.

The investigators do not know the reason why the finally deceased man assaulted the driver, although

there was no previous relationship between them

.

The proceedings have been handed over to the Court of Instruction 3 of Elda which, for the time being, has decreed freedom with charges for the alleged perpetrator, as reported by the armed institute.

The events occurred on

June 3, at 5:48 am,

when witnesses notified the Civil Guard, through the 112 emergency telephone number, that

a man with very serious injuries was lying

on the road .

Apparently it was a pedestrian hit.

Upon arriving at the scene of the events, at the exit of the A-31 towards Las Salinetas, at kilometer 204,700 which passes through the municipality of Petrer, the agents found the victim

on the road next to the tracks of a braking

produced by tires.

The specialists verified that the braking was recent, probably a

few minutes before

the call that alerted 112. In addition, they found that, after the impact, the vehicle had fled at high speed, leaving the victim to his fate, without help, at night and in a poorly lit area.

The man was transferred still alive to

the General University Hospital of Alicante

, as soon as he was found.

However, he lost his life the day after what happened.

The investigation was initiated for an

alleged road accident and a crime of abandoning the accident site

.

The agents carried out an exhaustive visual inspection of the scene of the events, in order to be able to locate the alleged perpetrator, since there was no trace of his identity or of the vehicle that had caused the accident.

large vehicle

During the investigation of the proceedings, the investigators learned that it was a large vehicle and

put the track on a transport company.

From all the indications and evidence collected, the Civil Guard has been able to verify that at kilometer 201,900 of the A-31, while the truck driver was on a break,

a man tried to enter the cab of the truck by force

.

The carrier began a struggle with him.

After preventing him from getting on the truck, he began the march towards Alicante.

The passer-by, with the vehicle already running,

was hooked from the outside, hanging from the rear-view mirror and leaning on the steps leading up to the cabin,

continuing his attempt to get into the passenger compartment.

The truck driver traveled in such circumstances for a distance of almost three kilometers at a speed of 100 kilometers per hour.

At that moment, the trucker chose to leave the service road at Las Salinetas, where

he braked abruptly

and managed to get the man to unhook.

The victim fell violently on the road, which caused very serious injuries,

and which were the cause of death

, as has been proven with the expert evidence.
