During the weekend the electricity price was low but on Monday morning it rushed.

From 10 öre per kilowatt hour to over five kronor at a peak on Monday morning.

These are the highest daily quotations in at least one month, according to the Nordpool power exchange.

The increase is partly due to windless weather with a small electricity production from wind power, and that rising gas prices are pushing up costs in Germany, among other places, which affects prices in southern Sweden.

- When it rises in southern Sweden, the price rises here as well, there will be a consequence, says Fredrik Stake.

"Charge at night"

For those who have a variable electricity price, it is noticeable on the invoice and it is usually in the morning that electricity is most expensive.

- For example, if you have an electric car, you can think about charging it at night.

Esem is both a producer, buyer and seller of electricity.

- We have a combined heat and power plant that produces electricity and which covers approximately 40 percent of the needs of our customers.

There we make money on electricity price peaks, but at the same time we lose money on the electricity trade because we have to buy electricity more expensive than we can sell it, because many have a fixed price on their electricity contracts.
