Helena Andersson was 22 years old when she disappeared in connection with a night out in Mariestad on June 14, 1992. Her body has never been found, but the case has been investigated as murder.
Already just over a week ago, SVT Nyheter Väst was able to report that the investigation will be closed.
On Monday, prosecutor Jenny Karlsson came with the confirmation that this will be the case.
Suspected of dying in the murder investigation
The man who was suspected of the 30-year-old murder has now died, something that led to the decision to no longer investigate the matter.
- We have really tried to do the investigative measures we could and then it is clearly sad when you do not get further, especially in a case like this that has been so far back.
To have no end, it's sad, she says.
And now most things point to the fact that the murder of Helena will never be solved.
- A lot speaks for itself.
The future may show, but something completely new must emerge then, says Jenny Karlsson.
