Today, Sunday, marks the fortieth anniversary of the martyrdom of fellow Al-Jazeera correspondent Shireen Abu Aqleh, by the Israeli occupation forces, in the city of Jenin in the northern West Bank, where a memorial festival is organized with an official and popular presence.

The Palestinian Ministry of Women's Affairs called for a memorial festival under the auspices of President Mahmoud Abbas at the Cultural Palace in Ramallah. The ceremony will include a photo exhibition of the late and a short film about her life, in addition to eulogy speeches, in the presence of an official, popular and international presence, the family of the martyr and her colleagues in the Al Jazeera office in Palestine.

The fortieth anniversary of Sherine's assassination coincides with official investigations in addition to other international press investigations, the latest of which was an investigation by Al-Jazeera network that confirmed that the fire and bullet that killed the late woman were fired by an Israeli sniper weapon from the occupation forces on the 11th of last month.

This comes, while the occupation insists that Shireen was killed during an armed clash between his soldiers and Palestinian resistance fighters, and the bullet may have been fired from random Palestinian bullets or a soldier by mistake.

The occupation statement added that it expanded the investigations and included a senior intelligence officer, and refuted the press and official reports, considering them biased, insisting on receiving the bullet from the Palestinian side, which refuses to hand it over, despite Al Jazeera broadcasting an investigation in which it presented a picture of this bullet.

On this occasion, colleague Guevara recalled the last moments she lived with the martyr, and said that they were planning to celebrate her birthday together, but the occupation bullets were closer.

Guevara said in a post on Facebook: 40 days of this smile, Shush.. Today is the first time I dare to look at the picture.. and I saw your smile.. the smile that fills the sky and the earth.. Shirin with her smile conveyed with her voice, blood and funeral the suffering of a people to the ends of the earth. A people who only wants freedom..We do not wear black in mourning, but rather in anger until justice is achieved for you, for the journalists, and for all the martyrs of Palestine..Every day is more difficult in your absence.
