Idir Boumertit, Nupes candidate, becomes deputy for the 14th district of the Rhône this Sunday.

With 56.69% of the votes in the second round of the legislative elections, he beat Yves Blein (Renaissance) who won 43.31%.

Ten points already separated the two candidates in the first round.

Second round results

Idir Boumertit's victory marks an end to the imbroglio that preceded his investiture.

This was first sought by Taha Bouhafs (LFI).

The activist had finally withdrawn from the campaign after several accusations of sexual assault.

Michèle Picard, mayor of Vénissieux, had presented herself but it was her deputy, Idir Boumertit, who had been preferred to her.

The defeat of Yves Blein can also be explained by a lack of votes carried over, in the absence of a right-wing candidate.
